The Northern Hills Ag Fest is Friday, July 27, 2018 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Meade County Fairgrounds (next to Sturgis Brown High School). The Northern Hills Ag Fest, a committee of the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce, partners with the Meade County Fair to host an evening of family friendly entertainment to celebrate the agricultural members of our Sturgis Community and Meade County. The event features a free dinner, Mutton Bustin’, a Calf Scramble and Dress-A-Calf Contest! Bring the family out to enjoy an evening with us!

4 – 6 p.m. – Free Community Picnic
6 – 7 p.m. – Mutton Bustin’
7 – 8 p.m. – Calf Scramble; Dress-A-Calf Competition

Prospecting For Gold in Them Thar Hills! with Jim Van Hout Take this fun course to learn all about gold prospecting  in the black Hills presented by a chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America! Course covers a bit of history, the techniques of prospecting, safety and equipment used including sluicing and panning and more. A field trip, weather permitting, where you will actually dig, sluice, and pan will be discussed in class. Each student will take home a gold pan and a 2-lb bag of ‘pay dirt’ to practice gold panning on your own.. does ir get any better? Note: Tuition $45 for all 3 sessions plus additional $25 supply fee paid instructor. Wednesdays, 3/15- 3/29,6 6-8PM at Sturgis Community Center at 1401 Lazelle St.
