Veronica’s 5 Favorite Mobile Apps for Work

Hello again, Sturgis!

The 4th of July has come and gone (too quickly!) and now we are already thinking about the busy Rally season! With that in mind, today I am sharing five of my favorite work-related apps to use on your mobile devices and help you stay organized, connected, and productive this summer! Here we go:

Veronica’s 5 Favorite Mobile Apps for Work

1. CamCard
CamCard is a new love of mine – it has taken my pile of haphazardly-organized business cards and cataloged them into an electronic Rolodex! All you have to do is take a photo of the business card, and it will automatically pull and file the information listed. You can then sort by name, business, group, etc. It even features the card image with each entry so you can see the original! This is especially helpful after I attend a new meeting or business conference where I gather a large number of contact cards.

2. Remind
This app was originally developed for use in a school setting, but it works great in the office, too! Add committee members, board members, coworkers, or customers to quickly text out reminders via the app. It will show how many of the recipients opened an viewed each message, too! This works great for reminding people of upcoming events or meetings!

3. Trello
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again:  having a project management app synced to all your devices is a lifesaver! I use Trello as a type of virtual sticky-note system – it allows you to create topic “boards” and within each board you can add “cards” with to-do items, checklists, comments, deadlines, and more. Here at the Chamber, we have a board for our volunteers, interns, and myself to help keep all of our ideas and projects organized! The best part is, multiple people can be a part of each board, so it’s great for collaborating!

4. CamScanner
Similar to CamCard, this app lets you take a photo of a document on your device and it will turn it into a photocopy – it automatically brightens, straightens, and files it in the cloud so you can access it anytime! This is great for quickly sending a paper document to people on the go – it’s another must-have for those times when you are on the road or just don’t have access to a scanner.

5. Spotify
You might be thinking, “that’s not a work-related app at all!” but in fact, Spotify is one of my most-used apps while at work. As most of us already know, Spotify allows you to listen to almost any music in existence for free! You can create your own playlists or browse existing ones. So how does this relate to work specifically? Spotify has an entire genre of “focus” playlists created specifically to help you get things done. Sometimes I’ll go for a “mood booster” list instead to pump me up for a mixer or event. The options are endless! Consider using music in your day to be more productive and more positive.

I hope you have a chance to check out a couple of my favorite apps, and good luck with your Rally endeavors this year! Remember – most of the popular applications like Outlook, Google Drive, Mailchimp, and SurveyMonkey have their own mobile apps, too! Just let me know if you have questions about finding or using these. As always, feel free to stop by, call, or email anytime if you have questions or feedback.
