Bear Butte State Park Grasslands & Buffalo Herd

Though not a traditional midwest example of agriculture, Bear Butte State Park is a must-see stop on your agritourism adventure. The park includes grasslands showcasing the native flora and fauna of the region - you might even spy members of the park's resident buffalo herd on your way to the Education Center! Cruise into the park to enjoy the breathtaking and unique geological formation that is Bear Butte, and partake in a glimpse of what western South Dakota's grasslands and wildlife looked like before the homesteading boom:

Sturgis Community Gardens

Community gardens are a growing trend in urban areas, but the same format has proved extremely successful in less densely-populated communities as well. Two garden locations in Sturgis allow the public to garden within city limits in plots reserved each year through an application and lottery process. These garden plots exist side-by-side and allow residents without garden space at home to try their hand at growing vegetables, flowers, and more!
