About Black Hills Special Services
Individuals, schools, and entire communities turn to the Black Hills Special Services Cooperative for help reaching their full potential. BHSSC, a public entity, is governed by a board composed of elected school board members, representing twelve South Dakota public school districts that are committed to shared services. Programs are available to non-member school districts, as well.
In addition to services for people and organizations, BHSSC stands for sound fiscal responsibility and efficiency. It does not levy taxes. Rather, it allows school districts to pool resources and put their public dollars to the best possible use, in some cases making possible valuable services not otherwise available in South Dakota. These services are delivered through five organization divisions.
