About Historic Homestake Opera House
Built in 1914 by the Homestake Gold Mine the building boasted a billiards hall, bowling alley, library, 1,000-seat theater, and a 25-yd. heated indoor swimming pool. The elaborately designed building survived a theater fire in 1984 and sat empty for nearly a dozen years; but now is a nonprofit performing arts venue hosting 50+ events per year in theatre, dance, and concerts, and educational presentations while the first-ever plasterwork within the interior theater begins restoration progress in 2017.
The HHOH business office hours are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday and the office is located in the rear of the building on Julius Street.
The gift shop and tour office is open May - October, Monday - Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm and located on Main Street. Open October - December Saturdays from 10:00am - 6:00 pm. Tours are 45 minutes in length and are $10.00 per person (children 12 and younger free.) Please reserve your tour by calling 605-584-2067.
The theater and Interpretive Exhibit is open during events.
Call and reserve a 30-minute tours to see the next available time slot. Tour admission is $5 per person and kids under 10 are free.Tours with the swimming pool included are $10.
