Agriculture and Sturgis: A Love Story

Hello, Sturgis friends!

Today is a big day – this evening we are putting on the annual Agriculture Appreciation Banquet! This event is one of the most important events we host each year, because it creates an opportunity for the Sturgis community to say thank you to our local agriculture industry.

Agriculture is – and always has been – one of the cornerstone industries comprising our Sturgis and regional economy. It is a driving force behind our community’s stability, our Midwest morals and values, and the way we do business and interact with each other. If you come from this area or have lived here for long – whether you have a directly ag-related background or not – agriculture is part of who you are.

The Sturgis Chamber is particularly invested in the ag community because it contributes so heavily to our way of life. In fact, it is one of the key components of our organization’s mission statement:

“The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau advocates on behalf of its members to support business, agriculture and tourism resulting in an enhanced quality of life for the entire community.”

As Director of the Chamber, it is my responsibility to continuously strive to achieve this mission. This, combined with a personal background in small-scale agriculture and a wide network of friends and family in ag, contribute to a passion for promoting and giving thanks for everything agriculture in our area.

Please join me tonight as we congratulate our friends in agriculture for another year in the books and thank them for the wonderful impact they create in each of our lives.

Sincerely,

Veronica Grosek
Executive Director
