Mid-May Update from the Chamber

Hello again, Sturgis!

This week has been rainy and chilly, but we have been keeping warm by staying extra busy and productive! Here are a few notes on what we’ve been up to:

We have a new face in the office! Kat Mayberry started her new position as our Office & Membership Coordinator back in March – pause for COVID closure – and then again this past Monday! Kiara and I have been so excited to bring her out into the community to meet you all. She is energetic, friendly, and a TON of fun! If you haven’t had a chance to chat yet, you can stop by the office or we can come to you.

Members have been re-opening right and left! You may have seen Richelle Bruch and I out and about this week welcoming re-opening businesses via live videos on our partner page, More to Sturgis. Check out our feature videos, and stop by our local businesses to welcome them back!
The School Board Election e-Forum is ready to roll! This year, we are hosting the Meade 46-1 School Board Election Forum electronically. You can join via Zoom this upcoming Tuesday, May 19th at 5:30 pm!

Tourists are returning to the Black Hills! We are pleased to report that tourists are slowly arriving in spite of recent events – and we are happy to greet them! Tourism is such a critical part of our economy, we at the Chamber and Visitors Bureau are doing everything we can to help them feel safe and welcomed.

The Sturgis Motel has a special request! Our friends over at TSM just shared an awesome idea – they are putting together a collection of locally-owned, small business coupons, and special offers right in their lobby for their overnight guests! We think this is a super-cool idea because it spreads our mission to serve tourists throughout our community. We can’t wait to see what next week holds in store. As always, please call, email, or stop by anytime. Have a great week, Sturgis!

Sincerely,

Veronica Grosek
