Happy November!
Now that we’ve turned the corner into the holiday season, it’s time to introduce some shopping initiatives happening around Sturgis! Here are THREE ways to shop locally and make a positive impact in our community this month:
- Sturgis 90% Challenge: This initiative challenges you to do at least 90% of your holiday shopping right here in Sturgis! Local businesses have just about everything we need – why not ditch the shopping commute and make our community a better place at the same time? Scroll down for more details on using special hashtags to help promote the challenge and share your successes!
- Downtown Sturgis Holiday Giveaway: The Holiday Giveaway is an initiative created and promoted by the Downtown Sturgis Foundation specifically to increase shopping in the Downtown “BID” area (Business Improvement District). Businesses located in this district pay a mandatory fee each year that is pooled together and managed by the Downtown Sturgis Foundation. DSF turns around and uses the funds for marketing campaigns, events, beautification, and promotions like this one to further support the downtown businesses. To enter the giveaway, simply shop at any business in the BID district – $3,000 in prizes will be given away during the Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 5th! Click here for details.
- Small Business Saturday: This one is a national initiative that Sturgis takes part in each year. Communities across the nation encourage their residents to “Shop Small,” meaning support those small ma-and-pop businesses that make our community so unique. If you shop in Sturgis for Small Business Saturday this year, you could be participating in both of the initiatives noted above as well!
There you have it, three ways to support local business, small business, and/or downtown business! Make a point of participating in each of the initiatives on this list to create as large of a positive impact as possible for ALL types of businesses in Sturgis. Happy shopping!
Sincerely,
