Happy Thursday, Sturgis!
As the weather heats up (then cools down, then heats up again, then…) I can’t help but make a list of all of the wonderful activities I want to do this season. My list has stretched longer and longer, so I decided to share it with you all and aim for a comprehensive “Sturgis A to Z” activity checklist! A few letters were tricky, but I finally compiled a list that I feel embodies much of what Sturgis is most proud of, and will keep us busy all summer:
Veronica Presents: Sturgis A to Z
- Absorbing history at the Fort Meade Museum and Motorcycle Museum
- Browsing the shops around town (with sanitary precautions!)
- Creating a masterpiece at White Canvas or Sturgis Center for the Arts
- Donating to a local nonprofit
- Eating delicious meals from our local restaurants
- Fishing at Lion’s Club Park
- Golfing at Boulder Canyon Country Club or Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club
- Hiking up Deadman Mountain and the Sturgis Trail System
- Identifying plants and wildlife in Bear Butte State Park
- Journeying through the Black Hills National Forest south of town
- Kicking a soccer ball at the Sturgis Soccer Fields
- Lodging at one of our fine hotels or motels for a stay-cation
- Meandering through the historic Fort Meade Cemetery
- Navigating the Backcountry Byway from Exit 34
- Offering prayer at a local religious establishment
- Picnicking in the Sturgis City Park
- Quilting with supplies from Fabric Junction
- Reading a good book from the Sturgis Public Library
- Shooting lessons at the Sturgis Gun Range
- Touring beautiful Wonderland Cave
- Uncorking a bottle of wine at Belle Joli’
- Visiting all 18 sites on the Sturgis Art Walk
- Working Out at Twisted Canyon, NH Gymnastics, or FLEX Fitness
- Xeriscaping with ACE/Runnings/Rockingtree/Affordable Flowers
- Yelling triumphantly from the top of Deadman Mountain or Bear Butte
- Zooming up Boulder Canyon or Vanocker Canyon
