Time to Gear Up, Sturgis!

Reflecting on community spirit in Sturgis, I am impressed with how willing many businesses and residents are to pitch in and contribute to a better, more welcoming, and friendly community. In spite of having fewer than 10,000 residents, we have an astounding number of nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and a lot of - dare I say it - stubborn pride in this place we call home.

There are a number of polarizing issues on the table lately, both within Sturgis and on a broader scale. However, our community is about to put aside its differences and contribute a whole lot of long days and nights, sweat, and sore feet to putting on our largest annual event of the year and making sure that our visitors are well taken care of, happy, and safe.

Our staff here at the Chamber & Visitors Bureau is no different - we may be a small team, but we have a mighty impact when it comes to putting our best foot forward and giving our visitors a positive first impression of the community! We are preparing information about our local businesses and attractions to distribute to rally-goers, as well as a special sponsor opportunity you can read more about below.

After August (yes, I know how difficult it is to think that far out!), we are already planning to join forces with the City of Sturgis to make a splash at their annual Oktoberfest event. This year, we will be expanding it to a Sturgis Fall Festival & Oktoberfest, and we have high hopes of being able to construct a full-scale hay bale maze, offer hayrides, a pumpkin painting/carving contest, a pie/chili contest, and several other activities in addition to the City's usual beer tasting and live music! Please scroll down to learn more about this, and how you can be involved.

We are so excited to jump into August then continue the momentum into fall. Our community is a great one, and we all care about it so much. Let's work together to put on some amazing events and continue showing our visitors and neighbors how great Sturgis is!

Sincerely,

Veronica Grosek
