September 2025 in Sturgis
The last bits of summer that just keep holding on while Autumn begins to make an appearance. The 85th Motorcycle Rally has come and gone, school is in session, and at the Chamber, we’re working on our final 2025 events.
The wonderful thing about Sturgis is that there is ALWAYS something going on. Whether you’re into live music, shopping, sporting events, or getting outdoors, you can easily find something to do. Over the past month, I checked out some of the fun events and activities found in our beautiful town.
The 19th Annual Sturgis Mustang Rally took over the area through Labor Day Weekend. Every year they host a variety of Ford Mustang-focused events like poker runs, drifting competitions, show-and-shines, parades, and more. My dad took me on my first motorcycle ride out to the Thunderdome to watch the Barrel Race Competition and Drifting Exhibition. It was so fun to get to watch the Mustangs rip around the course with squealing tires and roaring motors. I knew some of the drift racers too so it was great being able to cheer them on as they flew by. I highly recommend checking out some of the events put on by the Mustang Rally in 2026, especially since it will be their 20th anniversary.
If you know me personally, you’ll know I love thrifting and shopping! There’s some pretty nice places here in Sturgis for finding that perfect birthday gift, thrifting an outfit for an upcoming event, or picking up fresh and local produce. In September, I went to Lucy’s Nearly New in search of some thrifted Fall sweaters and jeans. They carry a great variety for both women and men’s clothing, shoes, and homegoods. Make sure to check their Facebook for daily sales and promotions!
I also stopped by the Sturgis Gathering Market in September. This is a recurring vendor market that started this past summer in the BrewBerry Bistro parking lot. They bring in local producers and usually some sort of musician or artist for entertainment. Now that the weather is starting to get cooler, they’ve adjusted their hours/dates and moved indoors. You can visit their Facebook page or website to see what Saturdays they’ll be offering local garden produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, and more.
The Sturgis Community Gardens hosted their annual Chamber mixer on September 11th over by the soccer fields. I loved being able to stroll around all of the garden plots, seeing what our community grew throughout the summer. The lovely people that put the mixer together baked up so many tasty snacks and drinks, plus had some fun door prizes to win. If you’ve ever had an interest in gardening but don’t necessarily have the space, you can look into renting a garden plot.
September 20th brought us the Annual Sturgis Fall Festival- now with even more entertainment! We added some more fun options for the community, including a beer garden, hot pepper eating contest, salsa competition, and even an evening pub crawl. I had an absolute blast MCing for the hot pepper eating contest, sharing fun facts and hyping up the crowd. The pub crawl was super fun as well. We were able to get many of the downtown bars/restaurants involved, many of whom also ran fun Fall-themed specials. I loved running around downtown and seeing both familiar and new faces having a night out on the town. I’m excited to see how we can further evolve this massive event next year.
September is a month full of wonderful Sturgis events and opportunities for community involvement. But it being my birthday month, I’m really looking forward to October. Halloween, football, hockey starting up, my birthday- eek! Stay tuned for my next batch of “What’s Taylor Up To?”s and more!
