January 2026 in Sturgis
We’re officially one month into 2026 and having the weirdest winter here in Sturgis. A few subzero days but some warm ones as well, so who knows how accurate that groundhog will be.
My January 2026 contained good eats, interesting education, and some super cool dinosaurs! That’s right- dinos. I had the pleasure of touring the Dinosaurs of Hell Creek Museum outside of Belle Fourche with owner Walter as he shared a LOT of cool information about their operations. Did you know that the Hell Creek Formation has some of the most fossil-rich ground in all of North America? I wish I had kept count how many times I said, “That’s so cool!” while walking around the many skeletons and informational artwork.
Next up, my fiance and I visited the A&W Restaurant inside of the Spearfish Walmart who is also a new Chamber Member. Great customer service and even better food! I’m a big root beer snob but I’d say that A&W’s lands pretty high up on my ranking list. They have a different meal special everyday, seven days a week! If you happen to get hungry the next time while shopping in Walmart, you should definitely try out A&W.
Monument Health held their Wellness Fair at the Sturgis Community Center with a large variety of vendor booths. This year they also had Health Talks with topics on weight management, adolescent mental health, and more. I was able to walk up and down the aisles, talking with all kinds of health providers, therapists, and other business owners. There were even assisted living facilities and state program representatives. If you have any questions about health resources in the Sturgis area, I highly recommend going to the next Wellness Fair.
Winter is definitely still going to be hanging around the Black Hills for a while, but I can’t help but feel excited for warmer weather already. Maybe I will be blessed with a nice Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day free from blizzarding conditions. One can only hope!
